Our Story

In January 2016, The Noire Series was launched at William C. Overfelt High School in San Jose, CA, originally known as "The Black Series." Founded by the visionary duo Mya Canty and Gabby Donaldson, this groundbreaking workshop was designed to enhance student retention and engagement at the high school level. By focusing on the unique cultural and educational needs of the school's diverse population, The Noire Series empowered students to critically assess themselves and actively engage with the world around them through a blend of contemporary and historical subjects.
From 2016 to 2021, The Noire Series expanded its reach, bringing its transformative workshops to John O'Connell High School and the 100% College Preparatory Institute in San Francisco, CA.
In April 2022, The Noire Series was solidified as a business to provide educational programming to trusted school & community partners, united by a shared vision of empowering our youth to advance the community.
